I’ll always remember the first time I saw this map. My friend, professor, and architect David Gissen walked into the wine shop where I was working, unrolled a poster that used a metro map to detail French wine appellations, and asked me what I thought. He made it “just for fun.” Think anyone would be interested in it, he asked? Ummm… yes!!!

To date this could be the coolest wine thing I’ve ever found to hang on my walls. A beautiful and modern take on the French wine appellation system that is easier to understand than classic color-coded maps, David’s map is an entirely new way to think about wine landscapes. And let me tell you, it looks great hanging over a bar cart (I’ve perched this and the Cali map over my wines and whiskeys).
